Axio Observer Z1, TIRF System

The TIRF system is based on the Axio Observer Z1 inverted microscope.  It is equipped with HXP-120 and lasers for fluorescence microscopy.  Several filter sets allow multi-channel fluorescence microscopy for imaging of either fixed or living cells.  Environmental control is achieved by regulation of temperature and carbon dioxide.  The UGA-40 FRAP unit is driven via TTL with Zen 2 (blue) and allows single or multiple FRAP experiments.

Applications:

  • Multichannel image acquisition
  • Phase contrast, DIC and bright field optics
  • Time-lapse imaging (fluorescence, phase contrast, DIC and bright field)
  • Time-lapse imaging at multiple positions
  • TIRF
  • FRAP (multiple and variable areas, TTL-controlled, 405 and 473 nm laser lines)
  • Single molecule fluorescence microscopy (speckle imaging)

Other features

  • Co-localisation
  • Image stitching
  • Physiology and experiment designer modules
  • Optovar optics (1.6x and 2.5x)
  • Autofocus (definite focus and algorithm-based)
  • Automatic TIRF angle adjustment
  • X, Y, Z motorised stage
